ship-jumper's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Balls in the air but no gas! Ahhhhhhh….. ONE of the things I was very bummed about living on Portland, OR was that they were not a football state. True the Seattle Seahawks were close and WA was literally a 10 minute drive, but that meant nothing to the local programmers. If football was found on TV, it was only if the Seahawks were playing or it was the main game on Sunday or Monday night. I was lucky if I saw my boys from Minnesota play two times out of the year. I so missed that. I have enjoyed watching the Vikes play since I was a wee little girl and learned all about yelling at the tv from my father and my older brother. I am still true to the core, a die hard fan and true to that fact I abhor the Green Bay Packers. Minnesota and Wisconsin always have had a rivalry, and it’s not just the two football teams. It’s everything! I also couldn’t get any hockey games in Portland, so moving here was bliss this past hockey season! I had my choice of gobs of games to watch and was fortunate enough to go to I think three games. Ohhhhhh the smell of ice!! You just never forget it if you’ve grown up on it and around it!! It’s almost the same as smelling homemade chicken soup cooking on the stove. Hockey season has passed. Football season is here. And lo and behold….WOOOT WOOT!! I can turn on the tv and I have a choice of several different NFL games to watch! I can even channel surf during the commercials of my top game and follow a few different games at the same time! Ohhhh joy joy joy. It’s a shame though, as Ipo is not so excited about this fact. She detests football and hockey being on the tube as she hates the yelling that goes with it. The games come on and she scoots out of the room to the bedroom and retires in her room on her bed. It is a cool brisk day today. The air is chilly with a slight wind and the sun is shining. You can almost smell Fall trying to inch in a tad early. I’m sitting on my laptop playing poker, and watching the games. It’s the simple things that make me happy. The only thing that would make this a better experience would be a pot of chili on the stove, (at least I won't get the fluffers if I'm not eathing chili beans I suppose), some lime corn chips and fresh made salsa, and a cold beer in hand. Throw some peanuts in the mix and I'd be in heaven. Don't get me wrong. I’m not complaining. 4:13 p.m. - 2007-09-16 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
